Most-loved Paint Colors
City Farmhouse
Hi there, my name is Jen, I write a blog called City Farmhouse!
I am so thrilled to be taking part in this Favorite Paint Color Series!
I have many favorite colors that I have yet to try but these are a few that I have actually used in my home & love…
Valspar Natural is a very soft neutral that works well in my Family Room with every color under the sun. My décor changes constantly {sounds familiar} and I like having flexibility to change things without feeling stuck.
Valspar Rope I used in my Boys Bathroom and it is a favorite blue-gray for sure. You know when you find that color you love so much you want to use it again and again? Well that is this color, it is so soft and works with any color palette.
Benjamin Moore Wickham Gray has become my favorite go to for furniture lately, I used it in my Summer Porch. It is pretty and soft and is that perfect tone that pops enough to make it stand out but yet is still neutral.
Thank you so much for including me in this amazing series!
So Much Better With Age
Hi lovely readers! I’m Jamie and I blog over at So Much Better With Age. I’m all about French & Vintage inspired home decor. I love a good DIY project, crafting, organizing, baking and throwing parties!
Okay, I LOVE NEUTRALS. There. I said it. Nothing gets me more excited than whites and neutrals. It’s the perfect canvas for any home decor.
I really, really love the color we chose for our basement/playroom/man cave. It’s called French Canvas by Benjamin Moore. I would paint my whole house in this color. It’s the perfect ‘greige’ (mix of beige and grey) that I’ve ever found.
(and my photo below doesn’t do it justice!)
Our whole main floor is painted in Country Beige by Behr. We’ve had it for nearly five years now and I haven’t tired of it one bit. It’s the perfect neutral color that goes great with beiges and greys.
And my last (but certainly not least) favorite color is my new dining room paint color, Horizon by Benjamin Moore. I tried about a dozen different paint samples on the wall to achieve this look. I’m so happy it paid off in the end. I would choose this one all over again in a heartbeat. It’s the perfect grey, in my opinion.
Just make sure it’s Horizon OC-53 as there is another Horizon color on Benjamin Moore’s website.
Thanks so much, Shauna, for having me be a part of this great paint color collaboration!

As an artist I love color. I love seeing it around me, in my art and my wardrobe. But when it comes to decorating my home, I tend to stick to neutrals and grays.
I just love the cleanliness and softness of pale walls and white furniture.
I have compiled a list of paint colors in the main living areas of our home.
You will find that the colors are similar throughout .
Our family room is probably my favourite room in our home. It’s where our fireplace is and I have a lot of fun decorating it season after season. There is not a lot of color going on in this room so the fireplace takes centre stage every time.
The walls – Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray HC-170
Trim and fireplace – Benjamin Moore Cloud White 967
We have an open plan house and there is one particular wall that feels like it goes on for miles. We will be adding some moulding and repainting it, but in the mean time, we built a large sideboard to fill the space. I also decided to display my straw hat collection to add texture and interest. I love the accents of navy blue along this wall.
The walls – Benjamin Moore Shaker Beige HC-45
The Trim and sideboard – Cloud White 967
The accents – Starless night PPU114-20
The dining room is visible from our living room so the colors needed to coordinate. I find that Dry Sage works well, however, this wall will also be painted in the near future.
The Walls – Benjamin Moore Dry Sage 2142-40
Hutch and Trim – Benjamin Moore Cloud White
The Accents – Benjamin Moore Key Largo Green 620
We recently painted our walls with this beautiful stencil by Royal Designs.
The walls – Benjamin Moore Silver Gray 2131-60

Shauna,
There seems to be a trend….to neutrals…especially grey. :) Everything looks fresh and clean.

Love this! We’re looking for colours for our west-facing, poorly-lit living room. I think at least one of these will wake up the room!
We will be putting our house up for sale I am looking for a very neutral color to paint walls that buyers will like and make the space feel big. I so do not want a beige color. What I is one of your favorite whites? Thanks
Teri, It depends heavily on the lighting in your space. I tend to like soft whites like BM white dove OC-17 or chantilly lace OC-65. Or try a greige color like BM revere pewter HC-172.
Great series, looking forward to reading more
I’m weird – I find it easy to choose bright, colourful paint, but I get totally stuck on the neutrals. There are some gorgeous choices here! Bookmarking for future reference!
Lots of gorgeous paint colors and inspiration shots! Wow! I’m definitely going to have to check out Valspar Rope! I need to paint my bathroom too and it looks like the perfect bathroom color!
Interesting to see that Cloud White is still the perpetual favourite for trim. It’s the only thing I use!!
Wow Shauna! What a great round up of talented bloggers and their wonderful paint choices. Problem is, I like all of them!! Thanks and I think I have one of these colours picked out for a room that needs (wants) to be painted.
Did you lighten the French Canvas in your basement? It looks very light and fresh even with artificial light. I was thinking of trying it at 75% – what do you think of lightening paint colors?
