If you love colour, today is your day! My friend Jennifer from Tatertots and Jello has a way of creating happy spaces with her bold colour selections paired with whimsical decor. You can’t help but smile when you see the fun paint colours she’s used in her home. Oh, how I wish I could pop over for a visit. I just know it would be amazing! Jennifer’s Favourite Paint Colours
Hi everyone! I’m Jen from tatertots and jello. I’ve been blogging for 13 years and each year I fall more in love with color. There’s something magical about paint and how it can transform a project, a room and an entire home! Feel the same way? I am so thrilled to be here and share some of my favorite paint colors!
Fun Front Door Colors
We are currently renovating an 1891 home in the heart of salt lake city. The first week that we were in our home I painted the front door with Glidden’s Sweet Angel. I love pink and I was a little nervous painting the door pink but I immediately loved it and each day I love it even more!
Speaking of front doors, I painted the front door at our Daybreak house Sherwin Williams’ Tame Teal and I always got so many questions about that paint color.
And when I lived at my 1905 cottage I installed a new dutch door and painted it Sherwin Williams’ Funky Yellow. I loved opening the top of our dutch door in the spring and seeing that happy yellow color.
I also painted a vintage bistro set the same Funky yellow using a gloss version of the same paint color in our Cottage Porch Remodel.
White Walls
One of the first things we did when we moved into our home we are renovating is paint the entire house white on the inside. The walls were painted a tan color and painting the walls white made such a difference. White might seem like a simple choice but it’s incredible all of the different shades of white there are. Whites can have different undertones. Some might have a yellow tint, some a grey tint, some a blue tint. My favorite white is Glidden’s Delicate White. When we remodeled the kitchen and family room we installed wide planks which we also painted delicate white.
A Touch of Black
I love the contrast of black and white. In our kitchen I painted the island Glidden’s Black Magic. I also painted the cabinets in our new butler’s pantry the same black. It’s classic and the black is so striking with the black and white cement backsplash tiles.
One big painting project I tackled last year was renovating and painting our spiral staircase. I fell in love with Annie Selke’s Samode graphite runner. So I matched the graphite color in Valspar’s Very Black.
Soothing Bedroom Color
We haven’t started renovating the bedrooms in our 1891 home yet, but I am excited to add some color to those rooms too. I loved the soothing BEHR Premium Plus Ultra® Dragonfly in our master bedroom in the daybreak home.

See what I mean? Fun paint colours, right? Those front door colours are cheery! And the “Our Happy Place” sign in the kitchen is very fitting. I can’t wait to see what else Jennifer does to update her historic home. You too?
Do you recognize that Annie Selke Samode rug? It’s the same one I used in my kitchen. And, her yellow door and bistro set remind me of the yellow I painted my front porch bench years ago. So fun!
