Homemade Pink Grapefruit Salt Soak
This pink grapefruit salt soak is the perfect way to end the day. Relaxing, detoxifying and easy to make. Whip up a jar to keep, plus another for Mother’s Day!
Happy May! Ready to unwind? This homemade bath salt recipe is so easy to put together and will leave you feeling relaxed at the end of a long day.
And with Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect gift idea too.
This bath soak is a little different than most in that it’s made with Himalayan pink salt, which comes from ancient mountain seabeds and is said to contain more than 80 essential minerals. Not only does it act as a powerful detoxifier for the entire body, but it also leaves the skin feeling nourished and soft.
It only gets better when you add the fresh aroma and skin firming qualities of pink grapefruit essential oil, as well as the moisturizing and healing benefits of sweet almond oil.
Homemade Pink Grapefruit Salt Soak
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups pure Himalayan pink salt (medium to coarse)
- 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
- 10-15 drops pink grapefruit essential oil
Instructions
Add ingredients to mixing bowl and stir. Transfer to 2 airtight jars.
Store in the refrigerator to keep fresh until use.
Printable recipe card at bottom of post.
I recommend saving these grapefruit bath salts for an evening when you’re not in a rush and have nothing else to do after but crawl into bed with a good book or catch up on a show. I know, it happens so seldom when you’re a mom, but it’s totally worth it. And you definitely deserve it.
Bath Instructions
*CAUTION: Because of the natural detox properties of this soak, it is recommended to drink lots of water before, during and after the bath. As with any medical condition, check with your doctor before taking a detox bath. Do not use for children.
Add ¾ cup of bath soak (1 jar) to the tub as you’re filling with very warm water. Allow to dissolve (you may have to stir the water around with your hand).
Soak for 20-30 minutes, drinking at least one 8 ounce glass of water while you’re in the tub (preferably with a squeeze of fresh lemon).
Exercise caution getting out of the tub. Pat yourself dry to allow the mineral-rich water to soak into your skin or rinse off if you prefer.
Follow with at least one more 8 ounce glass of water.
Do not use on broken skin and keep away from eyes.
Himalayan Salt Foot Soak
I love it as a foot bath recipe too! Place ¼ cup of bath soak into a basin or pedicure tub filled with very warm water. Soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Pat dry and remove dead skin with a pumice stone. Follow with good quality foot lotion or coconut oil (and socks). Your feet will be very soft and sandal ready!
For a Mother’s Day gift or any other occasion, finish the jar off with some baker’s twine or ribbon, a sprig of flowers and a pretty tag. Be sure print the recipe and instructions to pass along.
Be sure to pin this grapefruit bath salts recipe for later!
