This toasted marshmallow mocha creamer is the perfect way to add a frothy, marshmallowy twist to mocha or hot chocolate. A delicious and budget-friendly handmade gift for the holiday season.

I’m back today sharing more ideas for the holiday season with some of my friends. I have a feeling many of you are planning on making at least a few Christmas gifts this year, right?
As with most holiday preparations, I suggest getting an early jump to make sure you can get your hands on the supplies you need, plus have ample time to put your handmade gifts together. If you’re not sure where to begin, my guide to handmade gift giving may be helpful.
Homemade Creamer Gift
If you have a mocha or hot chocolate lover on your list, this toasted marshmallow creamer is not only delicious, it’s quick to whip up and budget-friendly too. And, with only 4 basic ingredients in this recipe, you should have no problem getting your hands on any of them.
The key to handmade gifts is making them look put-together, while still having an artisanal quality. I found these cute glass bottles with stoppers, but you could also use jars if need be.
I suggest making a batch or two of creamer right before you plan on handing it out to ensure it stays fresh. Although, I’m certain it will be used up very quickly!
For a larger gift, put together a basket with mugs, coffee, hot cocoa mix and a bottle of homemade creamer. Be sure to print out the recipe card (or a link to this post) to include as well.
Want to enjoy a delicious toasted marshmallow mocha yourself? Simply fill a mug halfway with strongly brewed coffee, top with hot cocoa, then stir in this homemade creamer.
Add a bit for subtle marshmallow flavour, or pour a little more for a rich, decadent taste. It’s the perfect hot drink to sip while watching Hallmark Christmas movies!
I’ve included a homemade mocha recipe in the instructions below if you’re wanting to make the entire drink from scratch. Be sure to use good quality coffee like this medium dark roast from Melitta brewed using a pour-over.
Isn’t this pink heritage set adorable? A great gift idea too! You can shop Melitta on Amazon.
Of course, there are other ways to use this creamer. Add to hot milk (or milk alternative) to create a toasted marshmallow steamer or blend with vanilla ice cream to make a decadent toasted marshmallow milkshake. It makes a good coffee creamer too. Play around to create something magical!

How to Make Toasted Marshmallow Creamer
Ingredients
- mini marshmallows
- raw cane sugar
- half and half cream
- vanilla extract
Kitchen Supplies
- measuring cups and spoons
- baking sheet and parchment paper
- microwave safe bowl
- saucepan
- spoon and spatula
- fine strainer
- glass bottles with stopper (250mL)
The full list of ingredient measurements and instructions are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Homemade Creamer Instructions
- Start by preheating the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, followed by layer of mini marshmallows.
- Heat half and half cream for 90 seconds (or until warm) in microwave and set aside.
- Add sugar to saucepan, shaking to evenly cover bottom. Place over medium heat, stirring gently once sugar begins to dissolve (watch closely to avoid burning). Continue to heat and stir until sugar is completely dissolved and syrupy.
- Immediately remove from heat and slowly pour in about a third of the warmed half and half cream (watch for splattering). Place back onto medium-low heat and stir until sugar is incorporated, about 3 minutes (there may be small bits, but that’s okay). Stir in remainder of half and half. Turn to low, stirring occasionally.
- Place marshmallows in oven and bake until puffy and lightly golden, about 5 minutes. Be sure to watch closely as they will burn quickly.
- Remove from oven and immediately transfer to saucepan (with cream mixture) using a spatula. Turn heat back up to medium-low and continue to stir, using back of spoon to break up marshmallows. Remove from heat once marshmallows dissolve and mixture is creamy and frothy.
- Pour over fine strainer to remove any bits, then add vanilla. Cool, then transfer to jars. Store in refrigerator and use within 2 weeks.
Note: I haven’t made a dairy-free creamer version yet, but will update once I do.
How To Make Toasted Marshmallow Mochas
Brew strong coffee.
Next, to a saucepan, add milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, raw cane sugar and small pinch of sea salt. Place over medium heat and whisk occasionally until hot and bubbly. Stir in vanilla extract.
Divide coffee and hot cocoa between 2 large mugs. Stir in toasted marshmallow creamer to your liking. As an option, top with mini marshmallows (I like to toast mine with a kitchen torch).

Shauna,
This looks so delicious! I love coffee creamers and this looks yummy!
Step 1 says to completely dissolve sugar, step 2 says stir with half and half until sugar dissolves?
You are right! I just updated the instructions to include “incorporated” instead.
