Designer Challenge: Which Mirror? {Part One}

It’s time once again for our Designer Challenge. This time I presented three fabulous mirror options and asked each designer to select her favorite and tell us what she’d do with it. First up, I’m thrilled to introduce Ashley of The Handmade Home. Ashley’s blog is one of the first I started regularly reading a while back. I love her philosophy of being passionate about what YOU love and not getting caught up in what others will think. I think this shines through in her unique decorating style that has me intrigued and always coming back for more! Be sure to check out her Bungalow Revamps for inspiration.

Hello all you fabulous Satori Design readers! I’m super honored to be here today, to share a few of my ideas with you for Shauna’s oh so clever Designer Challenge!

So here were the contenders for my design board that were sent my way:

I just couldn’t resist creating a room with that fun one of a kind hand carved gold leaf mirror! It was screaming for a bit of drama…starting with a grandiose bookcase to set the stage for this rich little room. {Bookcase cropped for visual effects via the late and great Domino Mag} Because I would totally hang that wonderful mirror on an awesome bookcase like that for a little unexpected drama. As soon as I spotted that fabulous gold, a pair of deep blue peacock chairs were dancing in my head. I love the contrast of the simple side table, rustic coffee table, and beautiful dark tufted velvet sofa add to the space. The hint of glimmer repeated in the room in this lamp gives it a one of a kind, found look, and I adore the way those rich tones are repeated together in this super fun pillow from West Elm. Of course, you can never go wrong with the oh so classic seagrass rug, paired with a wonderful cowhide to build elegant texture on the floor…and provide an unexpected sense of fun. Topping it all off, is our crown jewel of a chandy, found here.

It’s kind of crazy how one little element can completely inspire you to build an entire room! I really had fun doing this…thanks so much for having me on your lovely blog, Shauna! Have an inspired day, wonderful people! ;}

Thank you, Ashley! This design makes me want to cozy up with a great book for the entire afternoon. I love the eclectic mix you’ve put together!

How about you? Would you select the gold leaf mirror as well or one of the other options? What kind of space would you design around it?

Come back tomorrow to see which mirror Nyla of Nyla Free Designs chose and what she did with it. You’re going to be impressed! Update- See that post here!

Sending warm wishes your way,
