Saying Goodbye is Never Easy
This has been a very difficult week for us. Over the weekend, our beloved dog Reegan took a turn for the worse and we had to make the gut-wrenching decision to put her down.
Considering I work from a home office most of the time, I’m used to hearing the pitter-patter of her paws on the kitchen floor as she waits (not so patiently) for her snack, or the sound of her sleeping on the stairs nearby (boy she could get a good snore going!). Today the house is all quiet with only the hum of the washing machine and dryer in the background.

As mentioned in a post last week, Reegan has been a big part of our family for almost 12 years. Like children, we’ve had our growing pains along the way, but the happy and joyful times have always outshone those not-so-pleasant moments. When a pet looks at you with those “puppy dog eyes” and wagging tail, it’s easy to forgive. She is a dog I will never forget.
At times like this, it really makes me think about all the blessings I have in my life. I feel so fortunate to have so many amazing readers and clients who make what I do a true delight. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I’m finding it a bit hard to put words to paper, so I think it’s best to take a short break from blogging. I’m still working on some amazing client projects in the meantime that I can’t wait to show you updates on starting next week.
Oh, and if you have an amazing pet you can’t get enough of, be sure to enter Method’s photo contest to raise awareness for the fair treatment of animals. I think Reegan would be so glad if you did!
xo,

Awe, I’m so sorry, Shauna. Big hugs to you my friend…
xo Sheila
Thank you so much. It’s so great to have friends to lean on :)
Sorry to hear about Reegan, Shauna. She was such a pretty girl! The silence is deafening for a while. Take care.
She was adorable from the get-go. I know you’ve been through this and it’s good to know it gets better with time. Thanks for your support :) Give Finn a hug from me!
Oh Shauna, my heart is breaking for you. I know exactly how hard this day is for you as I went through it last year. Just take the time you need to grieve the loss. Thinking of you today xo
It’s harder than a person thinks, but so much easier when there are people to lean on. Thank you :)
Sorry to hear about Reegan Shawna. My girl is nearly 12 as well and whenever I see these events posted I think about how sad I’ll be to see her go.
Love, Light and Blessings
Thanks Mia. It gets hard when their health starts to go, but all they really want is to be loved. I know you’ll do a great job of that :)
Awww, I am so very sorry for your loss! We are nearing the end of our Polly’s life… she is 15 and really starting to show her age. I am dreading it! :'( I am going to enter Method’s photo contest. RIP Reegan, thank-you Shauna for sharing, I have a huge lump in my throat.
PS we too joke here all of the time that Polly is Mike’s sister.
Thanks Laurie. I hope your Polly has a good life to the bitter end. It’s hard to see them go downhill and suffer.
Never an easy time. I hope the memories of your Reegan are helping you get through missing her.
Thank you. The fond memories are definitely what I’m focusing on right now…
Shauna,
I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Reegan. I do know how hard it s to make that decision, we had to do the same several years ago with our Cocker Spaniel, who was a part of our family for 17 years. It took a few years, but we now have two sweet Beagle/Poodle mix girls!
Thoughts and prayers to you!
Renee
Thanks Renee. Sounds like your Cocker Spaniel had a good long life, and I’m glad to hear you have found joy again with your girls :)
I’m so sorry about Reegan. I can’t imagine having to make that decision. Our pup is very much a part of the family so I know this must not be easy….. Must go give my pup an extra hug tonight. …
Enjoy your pup and all the stages along the way. The chewing and messes can be a pain, but nothing compared to when they’re gone. Thanks for stopping by :)
oh shauna, i am so sorry… thoughts are with you.
Thanks Cassie :)
I’m so so, so sorry Shauna! I dread that day.. Hang in there and remember all the joy that Reagan brought you and your family:)
Thanks Luci. That’s exactly what we’re doing :)
I’m so sorry. My cat died a little over a year ago and I still think of him all the time. We had him for 15 years and he was truly part of our family. Hugs!
So so sorry to hear! We are head over heels in love with our pooch, and I can’t even think about things like this. I hope it will get easier.
I’m sorry Shauna. I’m thinking of you.
