Chili Garlic Olive Oil

Chili Garlic Infused Olive Oil in Jar with Bamboo Spoon
Whip up a jar of this flavoured chili and garlic olive oil as an easy holiday appetizer or handmade gift. Delicious with bread!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped or minced garlic (use fresh)
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated sugar

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan over low heat on stove, add half the olive oil and full amount of crushed red chili, garlic, salt and sugar. Gently heat for about 4-5 minutes, stirring often. (Don't brown garlic.)
  • Remove from heat, stir in remaining olive oil and allow to cool. Transfer to jar and store in refrigerator. Use within 4 days.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to how spicy you want the oil. Each day it will become stronger in taste.
  • When storing in refrigerator, olive oil will solidify. Simply remove about 5 minutes before serving, stir and it's ready to go!
*Always store in refrigerator and discard any unused flavoured oil after 4 days maximum (if it lasts that long)!
