Chili Garlic Olive Oil

Whip up a jar of this flavoured olive oil as an easy holiday appetizer or handmade gift. Delicious with bread!

  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped or minced garlic (use fresh)
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon granulated sugar


  1. In a small saucepan over low heat on stove, add half the olive oil and full amount of crushed red chili, garlic, salt and sugar. Gently heat for about 4-5 minutes, stirring often. (Don't brown garlic.)

  2. Remove from heat, stir in remaining olive oil and allow to cool. Transfer to jar. Allow to cool and always store in refrigerator. Use within 4 days.

Recipe Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to how spicy you want the oil. Each day it will become stronger in taste.
  • When storing in refrigerator, olive oil will solidify. Simply remove about 5 minutes before serving, stir and it's ready to go!

*Always store in refrigerator and discard any unused flavoured oil after 4 days maximum (if it lasts that long)!
