Kitchen Must-Haves: Cookware and Tools

Jo-Anna from A Pretty Life in the Suburbs is stopping by to share her kitchen must-haves for whipping up delicious recipes.

Hi everyone! Today I’m kicking off a new series where bloggers share their must-have tools or supplies for doing what they know and do best. First up, I’m happy to have Jo-Anna from A Pretty Life in the Suburbs stopping by to share her favourite kitchen tools.

Jo-Anna is always whipping up the most amazing looking food on her blog, so I was curious to know what someone with her experience and talent reached for time and time again in the kitchen. Let’s take a look at her kitchen must-haves…

Must-Have Kitchen Tools and Cookware

Kitchen Must-Haves

Cookbooks

Well, it wouldn’t be my favourite kitchen items list without my favourite cookbooks!

These four books are my most-loved cookbooks of all time: The Joy of Cooking, any Best of Bridge book, Looneyspoons and Chef at Home. I refer to them all the time and love them all!

Tools and Gadgets

These are some of my most used kitchen items, and I would be lost without them.

I use my Pampered Chef knife every day, it’s really the best! And the bag clips, these are the greatest invention ever! I also can’t live without my pan scraper, silicone spatula and my pretty measuring cups!

Ceramic Bakeware

These dishes are a recent addition to my kitchen and I love them SO much. I bought the entire set of this ceramic bakeware from Superstore.

They bake everything beautifully, and they look fabulous in my blog food photos! I use these dishes everyday. They make an everyday meal look gorgeous! My favourite way to use these dishes is to roast vegetables, like this brown sugar and rosemary butternut squash.

Heavy Skillets

I absolutely love my heavy skillets. I grill, saute, broil and bake with them. What I love the most about them is that I can start a dish off on the stove and transfer it directly to the oven. It saves time and dirty dishes!

Red Enameled Skillets

I used these dishes recently for my apple baked dutch baby.

Thanks, Jo-Anna! It’s so fun to take a look at behind-the-scenes! I know I can’t live without my stovetop-to-oven skillet and dutch oven! (It probably has a lot to do with there being less dishes!)

What can’t you live without in the kitchen? Do you and Jo-Anna share any of the same favourites?

  1. OMG! Have just discovered your blog and I think it’s so beautiful and fun to read! You are so creative and inspiring!

  2. I can’t live without my ice cream scoop – and I don’t even use it for ice cream! I love it for scooping muffin mix into the muffin tray – making cookies (instead of scooping using a tablespoon)…biscuits for the top of stews, etc. The other tool I couldn’t live without is my pasta pot – we received as a wedding gift – and the lid has holes in it and locks into place so you can turn it completely upside down to drain the water from the pasta (or vegetables) – love it!  Rhondda #SITSBlogging

  3. I love all of your cook ware!! So gorgeous.  I definitely think, as silly as it sounds, that an apple slicer is a key component to any starter kitchen.  I juice a lot and cutting the apples, surprisingly, takes a long time.  Having the apple slicer not only makes it easier, but also encourages me to eat more apples!!

  4. I have a two things that I can’t live without in the kitchen. The first is my recipe book binder that I used for collecting recipes that are a go-to for me. The second is my mixing bowl. Use it all the time. #SITSBlogging

  5. You are right your ceramic dishes do look gorgeous in your photos. My go to items have to be a good set of knives that I bought several years ago, my Calphalon cookwear and my rubber spatulas. My husband does most of the cooking in our house, I am sure he could add to the list.

  6. Hi, my first visit here. I see some of my favorite Pampered Chef items in your photo. Don’t know what I’d do without my PC gadgets!
