Designer Challenge: Which Side Table? {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Challenge, side table edition. Get the details of this seaside inspired living room design.

Today I’m excited to welcome Linda of Seaside Style. Whenever I read Linda’s blog, I know I’m going to be inspired by the fantastic decorating tips and beautiful homes that represent what beach living is all about. Linda also has an Etsy shop called Sea Chic, where you’ll find lovely jewelry pieces. I can’t wait for you to see what she did. I’m sure you’ll love it equally as much as yesterday’s design by Kate

Hi there Satori readers! My name is Linda and I am the author of Seaside Style, a blog that celebrates the beach and the coastal living lifestyle. I would like to thank Shauna for asking me to participate in this designer challenge. It was a lot of fun! Shauna gave me three side tables to choose from for the challenge.

Side Table Options

The first table is a Belle Maison Francaise Vintage French tray table, second was the Johnathan Adler rider tripod table, and third is a diamond patterned ceramic stool by Wisteria.

I really like all three of choices. I decided to go with the diamond patterned stool for the challenge, because of it’s functionality. This stool is a double duty piece of furniture. Not only can it be used as a side table, but it is great for extra seating inside in a living room or outside on a patio, and who can’t use extra seating?

Seaside Inspired Living Room Design

I decided to go with a classic coastal inspired room in blue and white with a subtle Moroccan influence. These ceramic stools fit perfectly into this design.

Seaside Inspired Living Room Mood Board

My two favorite pieces in this room are the Jonathan Adler Regency Arm Chairs in Navy Blue (a classic chair that will never go out of style) and a Pottery Barn Alhambra Tile Dhurrie rug from Pottery Barn. The rug complements the diamond pattern in the stools, and the rug is reversible, another plus.

I also added a couple nautical striped lumbar pillows to the chairs and 2 Moroccan inspired pillows in a deep Navy to the sofa. Selecting a wicker table gives laid back casual beachy feel. The mirror is a nice clean lined mirror by Uttermost.

When designing a room, layering with different textures and patterns adds warmth to the space, and pulls a look all together.

Linda, thank you for taking the time to put this together. I love the classic styling of this nautical inspired living room. The details you’ve added make the room inviting and the options you’ve provided for the side tables are clever!

What do you think? Would you select the Wisteria diamond stool like Kate and Linda or go for one of the other options? I’d love to know.

  5. I like that you can use it as a stool, too.  The first one feels a little more bedroom to me (have one like it in my daughter’s room).
