How’s your week going? Although the weather has been gorgeous, my time outside has been spent pressure washing, sanding and staining our deck. To say my shoulders are a bit sore is an understatement! But, we do enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible, so it’s worth it in the end. I’m pushing full steam ahead to be able to get our eating area put back together before our kitchen gets ripped apart next week. Yes, the inside of our house is about to go from bad to worse!
I’ll be sharing our back yard tour (hopefully) very soon. Until then, I wanted to share links to some lovely summer front porches and decks I’ll be taking outdoor decorating inspiration from starting with this beautiful blue and orange front porch.
The plan is to lighten and brighten our space, and it’s all starting with a new stain color. The dark deck stain looks great when it’s freshly done, but the maintenance is something we’re tired of. Every scuff, footprint, raindrop, leaf, you name it shows up! Today, I’m testing different shades of grey to find just the right one. Wish me luck!
I finished clear coating our cedar partition yesterday. All of the slats make that a big job, but the privacy it provides is worth the effort. Good thing it doesn’t need to be done very often!
For decorating, I’ll be building on some of the outdoor decor pieces I added last May. The foundations are all neutral, but pops of color definitely bring the space to life.

And this front porch decorated in earthy colors is lovely too!
It’s easy to add a bit of fun with a patterned outdoor rug. Love this space by The Inspired Room.
Consider making your own outdoor furniture. I love this modern wood bench by DIY Candy! Total cost- $35!
Finally, I love how light and airy Krista Salmon’s outdoor space is below. So pretty!
Have a favorite in the bunch? I like aspects of each one and can’t wait until ours is finished.
