Decorating Crush: Blue & White

Blue & white has become one of my favourite colour combinations and latest decorating obsessions. Love this palette too?

Every once in a while, I seem to be drawn to certain look, and lately it’s the combination of blue and white. Perhaps it’s because days at the lake are a stone’s throw away (let’s hope), and blue & white is a palette that always reminds me of summer. I’m so ready for the sun to wash down on my face (sunscreen smeared, of course) while I’m taking some time to hang out with friends and family. Are you with me?

Blue and White Decorating Inspiration

Let’s take this blue and white bedroom that’s simplistic in design, but so refreshing. The best thing about this colour palette is its purity and the need for only a tiny bit of texture to be mixed in for it to look finished.

If I didn’t have a messy dog, busy teenager (with slough of friends), and a coffee-spilling husband in the house, this living room with white upholstered sofas and blue accents could be a contender in our new main floor decorating plans. Perhaps the next house…

Porcelain definitely comes to mind when I think about blue and white. I adore how this collection of plates adds a pop of colour and creates interest in an otherwise neutral kitchen. So granny chic!

Blue and white chinoiserie has definitely become a favourite of mine. I love these pieces used in both contemporary and more traditional spaces. I’ve started scattering a few thrifted decor pieces around our home too.

When it comes to a blue and white decorating scheme, blue can never be the dominant force in a room for my personal taste. Instead I prefer the crispness of white to keep the space feeling light and airy. Dark blue rooms can often seem too moody, except when they have a lot of natural light like this gorgeous office space.

Blue and White Decor

If an entire room decorated in blue and white really isn’t your thing, consider adding a little bit to wake up your space. Decorative accessories such as pillows, artwork, vases, and throws are all ways you can play around with this fresh colour combination.
