New Kitchen Storage Solution

See how our new kitchen storage system with translucent containers and washable labels is saving us time and money!

Since mid-January, I’ve been going through closets, cabinets, drawers, and our pantry to weed out anything we don’t use. Then, I cleaned everything thoroughly and re-organized as necessary. It’s always a big job, but I love how fresh and airy everything feels when it’s done.

Although our pantry was fairly well organized, I was tired of food in bags and boxes falling over and going stale when they weren’t properly closed (not pointing any fingers!). The same thing was happening in the fridge, and I needed to come up with a better food storage solution.

Food Storage Ideas - Labels by Mabel's Labels

I received products from Mabel’s Labels to facilitate this post. As always, opinions are my own.

Coincidence or not, around the same time I was reorganizing our pantry, Mabel’s Labels contacted me and asked if I’d like to try their new household labels. Being the organizing enthusiast I am, I immediately jumped at the chance since I love to label everything!

These labels are not only stylish, but they’re also dishwasher, microwave, and UV safe. I’m on board with anything that’s low maintenance and makes life a little easier.

The canister labels I selected are also available in other styles and colours, and you’re able to customize some of them for specific food items. Chia is a staple in our house so added it to the list.

I found the handy food storage containers with pop-up pourable lids at IKEA. They were very inexpensive, and I like how I’m able to see how much product is remaining since they’re translucent. (No more knocking on my neighbour’s door to see if they have a little cocoa because the tin was pretty much empty and my cookie dough is half made… well, it will probably still happen!)

I plan on picking up a few more of these containers to transfer items into. They make great use of space in the fridge and pantry, and I don’t have to stress about getting them dirty since the whole thing (label and all) can be washed.

Have any tips for organizing the kitchen? Have you tried Mabel’s Labels too?

Happy organizing!
