Designer Challenge: Which Mirror? {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Challenge, mirror edition! I’m thrilled to welcome Nyla of Nyla Free Designs.
I first met Nyla at Kimberley Seldon’s Business of Design school. I was immediately impressed with her sense of style and friendly demeanor. I love reading her contributions to Dabble Magazine and always look forward to her design tips and adventures on her blog. They’re always top notch and on the pulse of what’s going on. Upon receiving the options from Shauna, I was immediately drawn to the rectangular, antiqued mirror and geometric shape of the StudioTen25 mirror.

Classic Modern Front Entrance
Rather than placing the rectangular gold mirror above a console table, I loved the idea of using a settee at a front entrance. I have been working on a few projects lately with antiqued mirror and I’m loving the warm, textured, second life feel it offers a space.
Typically working in a more modern style with my clients, I have one in particular where the direction is more traditional, antique and old world feeling. I thought I would work within the same concept for this story board, while adding a few hits of classic modern of course!
Rich dark floors, ivory and yellow petal wallpaper, patterned settee and bold runner alongside the graphic nature of the mirror pushes the envelope of mixing patterns and scale, as well as infusing colour. A bold statement as you walk in the door and a what a beautiful way to welcome guests.
I was tempted to do several options as there’s just so much you can do with this particular mirror in almost any room of your home. A versatile piece indeed! Special thanks to Shauna for inviting me to participate in her Designer Challenge!

Great idea Shauna…I’ve been enjoying how each designer chooses to use the mirror of their choice. Nyla’s entrance is the perfect mix of traditional pieces with a fresh twist.
