Front Entrance Freshening

Sharing a step-by-step plan for freshening and organizing a front entrance. Make it functional and welcoming!

Two weeks ago, I wrote about all the problems I have with my front entrance, and many of you could relate. In fact, after sharing my dreadful entryway, I received an email asking if I would share some tips for organizing and beautifying a front entrance. Since I’m currently working on the plans and sourcing for my own transformation, I thought I’d walk you through the process.

First off, I must share this lovely entryway I spotted on Pinterest as inspiration. It’s so fresh and inviting, isn’t it? Definitely a look I’m going for!

How to Freshen Your Front Entryway

Step One: Purge anything you no longer use. If space is tight, store occasional or seasonal items elsewhere.

Step Two: Provide storage baskets and/or hooks for each family member.

Step Three: Apply soft coloured paint or wallpaper to freshen up the walls.

Step Four: Replace lack-lustre builder light fixtures with an interesting style, such as pendants or hurricane lanterns.

Step Five: Choose an area rug for design and function.

Step Six: Add a small table, bench or stool if the space allows. Hang a mirror and/or artwork and accessorize.

Have you done anything to update your entryway lately? Do you have any tips for creating a welcoming space?

  1. I love the inspiration pics!  Maybe I can feature for organizing month if you have it done before march is over!!!  I can’t wait to see what you do in your own house!

    1. Hi Tiffany,
I have so many projects going on right now and I wish I could say I would have my entrance done by the end of March, but it won’t be the case. We are starting our basement renovation and that will be taking most of the focus right now and the entrance will be after that. I’ll keep you posted!

  2. I love a well organized and welcoming entry. I recently restyled ours I would love it if you stopped by to check it out. I restyled a $12 dresser and it looks so good in the space! Have a great day I love your blog.
