Hey There!  My name is Tiffany and my blog is called Living Savvy.  I am an interior designer who loves to share DIY projects and client projects!

With spring right around the color I know we are all craving a little freshness in the air and in our homes.  Here are some tips on how to freshen your space just in time for spring!

For a while I would never be caught dead with anything gold in my house or my clients houses, but some how it has warmed on me.  I think that is exactly what it does for the space too… adds a little bit of warmth.  By mixing silvers and gold it creates an warm/cool combo that really pops in any space.

Favorite Paint Colors {My Picks + A Series Recap}

Back in August, I invited a few of my favorite design bloggers to share some of their favorite paint colors. Perhaps you’ll remember the eye-catching color of Ashley’s playhouse or John and Sherry’s beautiful bedroom? Those turned out to be some of my most popular posts ever, telling me that paint is a hot topic. It really didn’t surprise me, since paint consultations are amongst the most requested services within my business, and I’m often asked about the latest trends in paint colors. Just yesterday, I was picking up items from the dry cleaners and somehow the conversation led to paint!

When I wrote those posts, I told you I had a list of my own paint front-runners that I’d share with you. Some of them are paint colors I’ve used within our home and others are suggestions for clients that I couldn’t be happier with. It’s always important to keep in mind that, although these are tried and true colors, they don’t work in every situation. Lighting, both natural and artificial, flooring, and other room elements can greatly affect how a color appears on a wall. It’s important to go through a paint selection process to come up with the best color for your space.

My current top pick for an all-over, use almost anywhere neutral is Cashmere, a beautiful soft grey from the Sarah Richardson Collection for Para. We painted most of our basement this color and I love how light and airy it makes the space feel, while providing an element of coziness with it’s warmer undertone. I’m planning on carrying this color up onto the main floor.

What’s Up in the Blogosphere?

As you would probably guess, one of my favorite things to do is read blogs. It’s really what inspired me to create my own. You may remember one the first posts I wrote just over a year ago, where I explain my thought process for starting a blog. Looking back, I wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.

As mentioned in that post, one of the blogs I was really drawn to (and continue to be to this day) was Nesting Place. Nester has a way of digging a little deeper to find meaning within our homes, rather than just focusing on the physical aspects. For the month of October, she is hosting her 31 Days Series, which has grown to be very popular (you’ll know why if you follow along).

Perhaps next year I will join along and commit to 31 days of blogging about a topic, but for now, I’ll become inspired by some of the other participants. I will say, though, I’ve pledged to myself to focus on “31 Days of Finishing Up Half-done Projects.” Anyone on board?

We’re Talking Paint Colors {Bloggers’ Faves Part Two}

While we’re on the topic of favorite paint colors, I have to mention that Pottery Barn has its newest line up of Benjamin Moore paint colors for fall 2012. I think they’ve put together one of the best collections, and I particularly love the selection of blues. How about you?

 Yesterday, Ashley and Shannon shared some of their best-loved paint colors. To carry on with the theme, I’m thrilled to welcome three more fantastic design bloggers to add to the list.

Sherry {Young House Love}

Young House Love

Hola everyone. Sherry here, from Young House Love. I had so much fun shouting out three colors that I’m loving right now for Shauna’s little roundup, so here are my current (although they pretty much change every day) faves… (All by Benjamin Moore)

Rockport Gray is an awesome moody gray tone with some mocha in it. I love how it’s both warm and cool and since it’s darker than the more airy greige tones, it feels more smoky and sophisticated – and really pops with white trim. We used it in our bedroom.

We encourage you to join the party too! Be sure to mark your calendars- dates and themes are below. Remember it’s outdoor projects, so start working on them now. We’re talking gardening, outdoor lounge areas, lanterns, fences and more. I have a few fun DIY and decorating ideas to share as well and I can’t wait!

Favorite Home Organizing Tips {A Curbly Feature}

How is your day going? I’m knee deep in boxes and covered in drywall dust, primer and paint. I’m working on getting my office put back together after a week of interruptions. It turns out that I needed to add a little more support to the existing shelving in the closet and my simple paint freshening has become a bigger project than first anticipated! I’m taking a quick break to let you know that this week, along with some of my favorite bloggers, I’m being featured on Curbly.

For the month of March, my lovely friend Tiffany from Living Savvy rounded up a few of us ‘organizing types’ to share some of our best tips for keeping our homes in order. Earlier this week, she was asked to pick some of her most-liked to share on the Curbly DIY design community. Fortunately, my tips made her list! You can check out the feature here.

Organizing my home has made the day to day tasks so much easier. The effort required to set up any organizing system, big or small, has always paid back huge dividends.
