Designer Challenge: Which Area Rug? {Part One}

It’s time once again for our Designer Challenge. This time I presented three gorgeous area rug options and asked each designer to select her favorite and tell us what she’d do with it. First up, I’m excited to introduce Amanda of Amanda Carol at Home. I stumbled upon Amanda’s blog last fall when I was asked to participate in Living Savvy’s Spray Painters Anonymous series and I immediately knew we would hit it off. She and I share a love of classic interiors with a bit of an edge and her home is stunning- be sure to check out her home tour.

I was so excited to be asked to participate in Shauna’s Designer Challenge.  I have seen her other Designer Challenge posts and thought it would be so fun to do and here I am getting my chance!  I was given 3 options for area rugs.

First up was the Dash & Albert Circle Fret Rug.

Getting to Know Zinc Door

Are you ready to obsess over new home decor?

Layla Grayce has launched a fabulous new website Zinc Door which features modern yet livable decor perfect for any space. To celebrate, they’re giving away a $10,000 bedroom makeover inspired by a fashion forward haven featured in the March/April issue of Lonny Magazine.

{via Lonny Magazine}

As soon as I saw this room, I was in love. I thought about how fabulous it would be to win the entire ensemble, but then I discovered the contest is only open to residents of the US. (Sending good luck to all my Southern readers!)

Zinc Door is considered to be the mod alter ego of Layla Grayce. It’s a curated collection of furnishings and decor inspired by and evolved from iconic 20th century classic designs; a touch of vintage mid-century modern, a little 30′s art deco, early industrial styling plus streamlined classics that stand the test of time. Can you say oh la la!

Although I encourage you to check out Zinc Door for yourself, here are some of my favorite items:

{Trina Turk Shanghai Links Pillow}

{Silver Leaf Quatrefoil Mirror}

Designer Challenge: Which Settee {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Settee Challenge! I’m thrilled to welcome the very talented Jackie of Teal and Lime. I admire Jackie’s work, not only because we share a love of blue and green, but also for her stylish blog that’s chalk-full of amazing decorating ideas and wonderful inspiration. I can’t wait for you to see what she did! (If you missed Part One, you can see the three settee options and find out what Shannon did here.)

When Shauna asked me to guest post, I wanted to see my three choices before she even finished asking. I can always use a good excuse to window shop online and create mood boards.

Without a doubt, I would choose the Elton Settee. We have actually had our eyes on it for our master bedroom. We currently have a small chaise and two large dressers in the room. I would love to move one of the dressers into the closet and replace the chaise with the Elton settee. The vision is a cozy, romantic, cuddle up seating area.

First of all, I would choose one of the fabulous performance velvet fabrics, like Dove Grey. There is nothing better than velvet and tufting to add some romance. I would soften up the settee with one of these gorgeous Bukhara pillows from Z Gallerie. I would also toss on one of these Lazo fur throws. I just checked them out in person in the store and they are scrumptious. And I would have to splurge on one of these gorgeous feather screen printed pillows.

Designer Challenge: Which Settee? {Part One}

It’s time once again for our Designer Challenge. This time I presented three gorgeous settee options and asked each designer to select her favorite and tell us what she’d do with it. First up, I’m excited to introduce Shannon of AKA Design. Not only is her home totally gorgeous (it’s been featured on the Steven and Chris show and about to be photographed by Apartment Therapy), but she’s also writing an e-book that will launch very soon! A smart and design savvy gal!

Hello, I’m Shannon Acheson the writer behind AKA Design: a Canadian blog where my hubby, Dean, and I share our thrifty design finds, organization ideas & affordable DIY projects. I was thrilled when Shauna sent me links to these three settees around which to build virtual rooms! So much fun!

The first settee is the west elm Elton Settee. {I personally love the folks at west elm after ordering our duvet cover from there this summer.}

The second settee is Zinc Door’s Lincoln Settee. Mmm, grain sack – esque stripes!!!

Designer Challenge: Which Bench? {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Bench Challenge! I’m thrilled to welcome the fabulous Nancy of Marcus Design. Find out what she did! (You can catch up on Part One here.)

Hello lovely Satori readers! First and foremost I must thank Shauna for including me in this wonderful and fun post. I had a great time putting my bit together :) I must say that it was hard to choose only one bench, but in the end the Hollywood glam-lover in me chose the zebra print Oly Studio Hillary Bench.

I have been in love with the designs of the talented Jennifer Ferreira, and this bench reminded me of two of her fabulous vignettes:
