Designer Challenge: Which Headboard? {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Challenge- headboard edition! I’m thrilled to welcome Brooke of Brooklyn Berry Designs. Although Brooke and I live in the same neck of the woods, we haven’t met in person, but I can tell we’d have a lot to talk about over coffee (on my list for the new year!). Brooke’s blog is an online journal where she shares ideas and inspiration for creating a safe, warm and welcoming place, as well as dishing out her take on books (also know as her “me” time away from the kids). I can’t wait for you to see what she came up with! (If you missed Part One, you can find out what the headboard options were and what Rita did here.)

I’m Brooke, an Interior Designer and mom to 3 boys, including a set of crazy twins. I love a good challenge, whether it be a small budget or a quirky architectural feature, because it always creates a unique solution.

For Shauna’s designer challenge, I decided to take a step out of my comfort zone and design around the headboard that was beautiful, but made me nervous. I figured since this was just for fun, I could venture out of my comfort zone. It was really fun!

Designer Challenge: Which Headboard? {Part One}

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Designer Challenge, and I’m excited to bring you another installment of this popular series. This time I presented three headboard options and asked each designer to select her favorite and tell us what she’d do with it. First up, I’m happy to introduce Rita from Harbour Breeze. Rita and I connected through a Canadian designer group we’re both part of. After checking out her blog, I was so impressed by her $159 kitchen makeover, as well as other amazing projects, I immediately knew she was perfect for this challenge.

Hi everyone. I’m Rita Joy and am thrilled to be sharing over here at Shauna’s place today. My blog home address is found at Harbour Breeze and my real address is on an island in beautiful British Columbia. I share my old, history filled house with my husband and 3 boys ~ one of which is already graduated and moved on. I love the challenge and charm an old house brings and have been enjoying working on our home one room at a time.

Shauna’s designer challenge has been so much fun! She presented these three headboards and asked me to pick one and design a room around it.

2. Scrolled and Tufted Headboard found at Decorator Tag Sale

3. Pavillion Headboard by Zinc Door

I chose the Alta Headboard by Serena & Lily. I loved the classic look with the nail head detail and couldn’t get over the huge choice of beautiful fabrics and patterns. I set out to design a bedroom that I would love if finances weren’t any issue. Oh, what fun that is! My dream bedroom would be classic, warm, and rustic ~ with just a little bit of bling. Since I really love the idea of having my dream bedroom situated where I could see the ocean waves out its spacious windows, I’m calling this one “Beach Cottage Bling”.

Designer Challenge: Which Outdoor Seating? {Reader Edition}

If you remember about a month ago, with the suggestion of one of my readers, I opened up the Designer Challenge to Satori Readers. Fortunately, Olioboard wanted to join in and offered to award our top three picks a 6-month upgrade to their Pro version. How fun!

Readers were given three outdoor seating options, including the Catalina Lounge Chair, Geometric Pouf and Nantucket Chair. They were asked to create a mood board using one of them.

To help select the top three mood board entries, I enlisted the help of two past Designer Challenge participants, Nancy from Marcus Design and Jackie from Teal and Lime. I just love these outdoor spaces sent in by Sheila, Shantelle and Tiffany!

Calling All Readers: Be Part of the Designer Challenge!

A while back, I received an email from Carmen, a reader who looks forward to the Designer Challenge every month. I started this series back in November and it has been one of the most popular reads on the blog. Basically, I select three furniture or decor items within the same category, say mirrors, and the guest designers create a room or vignette around the item of their choice.

Up to this point, design bloggers have been the participants of the Designer Challenge, but Carmen proposed opening it up to readers. I thought it was a fantastic idea!

With the season of summer on my mind, I’ve selected three options for outdoor seating:

The first chair, called the Catalina, comes from Crate and Barrel. It’s hard to believe this is an outdoor chair given its plush look and comfort factor.

Designer Challenge: Which Mirror? {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Challenge- mirror edition! I’m thrilled to welcome Nyla of Nyla Free Designs. I first met Nyla at Kimberley Seldon’s Business of Design school and I was immediately impressed with her sense of style and friendly demeanor. I love reading her contributions to Dabble Magazine and always look forward to her design tips and adventures on her blog. They’re always top notch and on the pulse of what’s going on. I can’t wait for you to see what she did! (If you missed Part One, you can find out what Ashley did here.)

Designer Challenge: Which Mirror? {Part One}

It’s time once again for our Designer Challenge. This time I presented three fabulous mirror options and asked each designer to select her favorite and tell us what she’d do with it. First up, I’m thrilled to introduce Ashley of The Handmade Home. Ashley’s blog is one of the first I started regularly reading a while back. I love her philosophy of being passionate about what YOU love and not getting caught up in what others will think. I think this shines through in her unique decorating style that has me intrigued and always coming back for more! Be sure to check out her Bungalow Revamps for inspiration.

Designer Challenge: Which Chair? {Part Two}

Welcome to Part Two of the Designer Challenge- chair edition! I’m thrilled to welcome Anna of Directions Not Included. I discovered Anna quite recently when I read  ’My Favorite Things’ gift exchange she did with our mutual blogging friend Tiffany of Living Savvy. I knew I wanted to get to know this gal when I saw the care and detail she put into selecting just the right items to send. Since then, I’ve been reading posts about her home remodelling projects, transforming what she calls the UGHLY to pretty. I can’t wait for you to see what she did! (If you missed Part One, be sure to catch up on the three chair options and find out what Shandra put together.)

Anna from Directions Not Included
Hi there! I’m Anna from Directions Not Included. My husband and I are busy renovating an original 1950s Florida home so I’ve been documenting our renovation, decorating and crafting projects along the way. I’m excited that Shauna asked me to be part of this designer challenge. Designer challenge? Me? I’m not exactly confident in my decorating skills but I’m flattered. It might have made me blush when I got the email ;)
When Shauna sent through the choices for this month’s challenge I instantly was drawn to the Blake Grey Wash Lounge Chair. It seemed like the perfect fit for a nice sun room or sitting area with big open windows.

Designer Challenge: Which Chair? {Part One}

It’s time once again for our Designer Challenge. This time I presented three gorgeous chair options and asked each designer to select her favorite and tell us what she’d do with it. First up, I’m thrilled to introduce Shandra of Signature Style. Not only is Shandra the principal designer of her own firm, she also knows a thing or two about set design, art, entertaining and a whole lot more. This multi-faceted gal shares a wide range of topics on her blog, including party dessert tables, decorating for the senses and “ask the designer” segments.

Greetings Satori Readers! My name is Shandra Ward, owner and interior designer at Signature Design Studio in Houston, Texas. I am also a freelance writer and the creator of Signature Style Design and Lifestyle Blog.

I’m very excited about being a part of Shauna’s Designer Challenge. I was presented with three beautiful chair options.
